The company

A London-based payments platform serving small merchants across the UK and Ireland. Live product, early revenue, and a founding team with deep payments experience. What they did not have was a route to investors who understood the category.

02

The challenge

The founders had spent five months approaching investors directly. Decks went unanswered, intros led nowhere, and the few meetings they secured were with generalists who did not understand payments economics. The business was fundable. The route was not working.

03

What GI Network did

The raise came into the network through one application. Within the first review, two gaps were identified: the unit economics were buried on slide fourteen, and the raise amount had no clear link to the milestones it would fund.

The opportunity was reworked around merchant retention and payback period, the numbers investors in this category actually price on. It was then matched against live appetite in the network: an angel syndicate active in B2B payments and an early-stage fintech investor writing first cheques at this level.

The outcome

Both parties reviewed the prepared opportunity. The syndicate led with £1.5M, the fintech investor completed the round at £2.4M. Term sheet agreed nine weeks after the application entered the network.
